National White Cane Awareness Day

Auburn University, in partnership with the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services and the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind, will host White Cane Awareness Day events on October 15, 2021 and February 19, 2022.

Due to the Delta Variant of COVID-19, the White Cane Awareness Day Walk originally scheduled to be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 will now take place on Saturday, February 19, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

The Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services will host an online event on Friday, October 15, 2021, which is the official National White Cane Awareness Day.

White Cane Awareness Day is celebrated nationally every year as a way to emphasize the critical role that the white cane plays in the lives of individuals who are blind or have low vision. This essential tool allows individuals the ability to achieve a full and independent life by helping them move freely and safely in public.

Registration for both the online and in-person gathering is now open at https://tinyurl.com/WCDAL2021. Please make sure to register yourself and help us spread the word!
