Special needs kids at Cedar Park Elementary School treated to field trip
Visually Impaired People, Inc. recently sponsored a field trip for special needs kids at Cedar Park Elementary School in Selma with the help of the Black Belt Community Foundation Grant. V.I.P. received the grant last fall for the purpose of paying for transportation, meals and tickets to the McWane Center in Birmingham, Alabama.
The event was a fun-filled day of activities for the kids. They were treated to a day of both educational activities and fun at the center.
V.I.P. C.E.O. William Bowman attended Cedar Park in Selma as a kid and remembered how he learned and the fun he had when getting the opportunity to go on a field trip. So, he wanted to sponsor a field trip for the kids at his old Alma Mata.
This is a place they will remember and would not have gotten to go to if V.I.P. had not have done the work to provide it for them.
Next up for V.I.P. is a field trip to Auburn University for a tour of the campus. The Selma High School Kids and the Selma Middle School special needs kids will be treated to this field trip. These schools are also where Bowman attended. He says he wanted to give them the opportunity he had.
