Low vision support group meeting held

V.I.P. held its fall low vision support group meeting on September 9, 2016. The luncheon was sponsored by Carter Drug Co. of Selma, Alabama and Dr. Rev. Melvin Pylant. The pizza lunch was delivered to us by Domino's Pizza of Selma. The pizza was brought to the Dallas County Health Department community room where the group meets quarterly.

The theme was low vision technology and the Automark voting machine. The Automark machine allows a person with low vision the opportunity to vote independently.

After some delicious pizza we exercised with Miss Gladys and talked about life challenges being visually impaired. The biggest obstacle to the group is transportation.

They also discussed rights for the disabled community and for equal access to jobs and schools.

V.I.P. Would like to thank the Dean's for volunteering to help us. They are both students at Wallace Community College Selma. Also we want to thank Dr. Elijah Pugh for his continued support of this support group and organization. He is a dedicated volunteer.
