Enhanced Vision: Learn more about a new treatment option for End-Stage AMD

From Enhanced Vision:

We are pleased to let you know about an exciting new advancement in the treatment of age-related macular degeneration (AMD). It is called a telescope implant, and it is FDA approved. It is now available in your area to treat End-Stage AMD, the most advanced form of AMD, where patients have central vision loss in both eyes.

End-Stage AMD can develop from either the dry of the wet form of AMD and is uncorrectable by glasses, drugs or cataract surgery. The telescope implant helps by using healthy areas of the retina to see instead of the area affected by the macular degeneration and may enable you to use your Enhanced Vision Video Magnifier even more effectively.

The telescope implant is part of a comprehensive patient treatment program called CentraSight. The program is designed to help patients see things that are important to them, regain independence and re-engage in everyday activities. The CentraSight program utilizes a multispecialty provider team approach and has been created to help patients follow the necessary steps for proper diagnosis, surgical evaluation and postoperative care. Candidates for the treatment will have the opportunity to look though an external telescope simulator to help understand what it could be like to have the telescope implant in the eye.

Watch telescope patient Joe Vellone and his surgeon Dr. Gerald Zaidman as they explain how the telescope implant works and the impact it has had on Joe’s life.

Not everyone who has End-Stage AMD is a candidate for the telescope implant, and there are other forms of AMD for which the CentraSight treatment program is not suitable.

There is a provider team in your area that can help you decide if you are a candidate for the telescope implant and whether it may be the right choice for you.

If you would like to know more about this new treatment, a knowledgeable CentraSight Information Specialist is available to answer any questions you may have and can help schedule an evaluation for you. Please call a CentraSight Information Specialist today at 1-877-997-4448 between 8am to 8pm Eastern Time.
